I Love Jarvis Cocker!!!!!!!!!

As if Common People and waving his arse at Michael Jackson’s disgraceful grandiose pomposity at the 1996 Brits weren’t enough to make Jarvis Cocker my hero, he comes up with this, which was released on 26 Sep 2006 but that I only heard for the first time today! Genius.

  1. I agree, Jarvis Cocker has a winner. Now IANAN admit it – you wrote the lyrics – didn’t you?

  2. For those among the readers who are innocent and shocked could you please translate the often mentioned contraction? I believe it decodes into Conservative Tories, but that’s a guess.

  3. moelarrythecheese says:

I take it that Jarvis Cocker is an angry liberal. Rush Limbaugh has pointed out that one of the attributes of Liberals is they are always angry about something. Reality seems to bear him out. What? Did . . . did I say something wrong?

    • OMG! That is hilarious! Liberals are always angry!?!?!?!? I seem to remember it was Sarah Palin who suggested Tea Party members should shoot their opponents. It wasn’t Liberals who went round lynching black people for looking at white women the wrong way, or Liberals who shot two Kennedy brothers & Martin Luther King or committed the Columbine massacre. It’s not Liberals beating homosexuals to death all over the USA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Significant_acts_of_violence_against_LGBT_people#USA.

Listening to Right Wing Radio shock-Jocks in Texas is truly scary; the angriest most violent rhetoric you are ever likely to hear publicly broadcast. Not only are the American Right perpetually angry they are also psychopathically violent!

And just a reminder that shooting or beating up people you disagree with is profoundly undemocratic.

  4. Wait, wait, wait, wait – hold on a minute – catch your breath. So Sirhan Sirhan who shot Robert Kennedy was a member of the John Birch Society and President Lyndon Johnson (who Jackie Kennedy felt was responsible for President Kennedy’s assassination) was a member of the Republican Party? And about those Texas folks being angry and violent – hey it’s a cultural Thang! And besides when you mix beer and pork rinds you create a psychological imbalance. So they can’t help it. So be nice and tolerant like a liberal should. And those KKK folks doing bad things – guess what? They voted Democrat! How do you like dem apples? And the Sarah Palin thing – the overly powerful Liberal media is always taking things out of context and twisting and spinning the truth. Why don’t you look at what Sarah Palin really said. Yea sucka!

    • Lyndon Johnson had Kennedy assassinated!!? The KKK were Democrats!?! Well, we really are deep, deep, deep, deep in Right Wing conspiracy theory now! It’s like Deliverance meets the West Wing, oh, no, that’s already been done, it’s called Fox News – Fair & Balanced as always.

  5. AND you know how the Liberals are always blaming President Bush for everything? Remember the earthquake in Virginia last week. Guess what caused it? The Bush Fault(line). Get it? Ha ha ha heeheehee

  6. Don’t knock Fox News. Those people are wholesome.

  7. By the way, considering that the two best Republican candidates (in my humble opinion) are Mormons, does that make you SKEERT? I tell you what, dem folks gots one HOT DAMN choir – sho nuff!

  8. So that you don’t take me for a hooey salesman I shall now explain my previous claims.

First the case of the KKK folks voting democratic.
You have of course heard of the American Civil War and Abraham Lincoln. Well President Lincoln was a member of the Republican Party. Because the Southern Good ole Boys (aka Crackers) fought against Abe Lincoln in the war they sure as hell weren’t going to vote for his political party once things got back to “normal.” Therefore, the South, for the most part, voted consistently Democrat until the mid 1960’s when President Lyndon Baines Johnson (a Democrat) supported and signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This of course ticked off the “cracker types” and the solid Democratic (white) South swallowed a bitter pill and for the most part turned to the Republicans. Nevertheless, because millions of Southern Blacks were indebted and grateful to President Johnson, the Democratic Party has received decades of loyal Black support. Because the vast majority of KKK lynchings occurred before the mid 1960’s, it is fair to say that the KKK trouble makers voted Democratic.

Secondly, my comment that Jackie Kennedy thought that Lyndon Johnson had President Kennedy assassinated.
In 1964, after the assassination of President Kennedy (in November of 1963), Jackie Kennedy was interviewed by historian Arthur M Schlesinger Jr. During the interview Mrs. Kennedy said that she thought that Lyndon Johnson and a bunch of rich Texans were behind the assassination. [Personally, I don’t believe that Lee Harvey Oswald did it by himself, if he did it at all]. The Schlesinger interview has been kept “under wraps” but is being released by Caroline Kennedy this fall.

    • Well, lets say the KKK were certainly not democrats with a small “d” and they certainly weren’t angry ‘liberals’ either – which was Limbaugh’s accusation that you quoted. They were far-right murderers.

In any event I do not see the Democrats as and representing any great liberal position. My position is that the Democrats and Republicans (and New Labour & Conservative in the UK) are basically representing the same interests. They actually only differ on how to articulate the same business friendly policies. Both are supported by the same corporate donations, there is no ideological difference of note, both are centre-right parties pursuing a Washington Consensus free-market economic ideology. Democrat/Republican is not the issue.

However, in US and UK politics there are those on the Right and the Left not represented by the mainstream parties. To suggest it is the Left who are “always angry” thereby implying the far-right are all calm, cool and rational is hilariously ridiculous.

  9. Your point is well taken. I gotta hand it to ya. You’re quick on the draw.

  10. Well shucks pilgrim, don’t mention it. (followed by)*a metallic clang*(as the spit hits the spittoon).
