20th October – A national demonstration against austerity

Coalition of Resistance welcomes the TUC‘s decision to call a national demonstration against austerity in the autumn around the slogan “for a future that works”. Last week the TUC agreed on working toward the 20th October 2012 as the date for the demonstration.

Last March saw over half a million on the streets in protest over the governments attacks on working people which was followed by massive strike action over pensions and engaged hundreds of thousands in the anti-cuts movement.

We are now entering a new phase in the movement. The government is becoming more and more unpopular which was reflected in the recent election results. We have the potential to mobilise even bigger numbers of people this autumn.

Coalition of Resistance is organising a special extended steering committee this Thursday to discuss how we maximise the potential for the demonstration. We want everyone who wants to get involved in mobilising for the demonstration to come. Please also send representatives from your trade union branch, local anti-cuts group, campaign group, student union, etc.

This meeting will hear representatives from the trade unions, pensioners groups, NHS and national anti-cuts campaigns.

I think a massive hunger strike would be fitting for an austerity demonstration. Just a suggestion.

Change of subject: Recently in an “off-line” discussion with IANAN I made the point that Obama is probably one of the most unqualified people to ever hold the office of President of the United States. I shared with IANAN an article which illustrates my viewpoint. IANAN was so moved by the article that he encouraged me to post it on the IANAN blog. To honor his request I present the link here: http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/08/obama_the_affirmative_action_president.html

    • Here’s a quote from this laughable article:

“How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment (Obama) beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world’s largest economy, direct the world’s most powerful military, execute the world’s most consequential job?”

As opposed to George W Bush!!!! Are you having a laugh!? Compared to Bush & Reagan Obama is a fecking genius. Bush & Reagan could barely speak English and had the intellects of disturbed banjo playing children with no teeth – and they seemed to think they were still playing cowboys and indians. To European observers the American habit of electing these red-neck idiots to the position of the ‘most powerful man in the world’ with a finger poised on the nuclear button, is deeply disturbing. Obama on the other hand is clearly a thoughtful, compassionate and intelligent man, of great integrity – all attributes that the American Right seem to find deeply objectionable.

This You Tube video says it all:

  3. moelarrythecheese says:

Yea, Obama’s brilliant all right. He’s one smooth talker. LOL

    • I didn’t say Obama was a smooth talker. I said that compared to Bush, Reagan & Palin he’s fecking Shakespeare. The Republicans have set the bar so low anyone who string anything like a sentence together appears like a genius.

  4. moelarrythecheese says:

OK, what do you think about this issue of where Obama was born? Check out this article: http://www.wnd.com/2010/04/139481/

    • Well, let’s face it Obama is going to win a second term and if The Republicans could prove it they’d take it straight to the Supreme Court before you could say, “Give me your tired, your poor/Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”.

With 100 million black people in the U.S. it seems amazing that you lot find it hard to believe he was born there.

      It’s a diversionary irrelevance.

  5. moelarrythecheese says:

    Stop, you hurt my feelings.

  6. moelarrythecheese says:

This is why Lovejoy had so much trouble teaching you the antique trade. You’re too hot-tempered, obstinate and closed-minded.

  7. ClassyWarez says:

moelarrythecheese – are you one of those CIA drones?

What a parrot you are – nothing original – just some GOP issued ‘Obama attacks’ – usually done by video because the GOP supporters ‘ent too good at reedin”

  8. Scary Spice says:

“I think a massive hunger strike would be fitting for an austerity demonstration. Just a suggestion.”

I think prison would be fitting for corrupt bankers and politicians who have collapsed the Economy and brought us austerity. Just a suggestion.

Did you not know the CAUSE of Austerity before you tried to be humurous?
